Title: LG Ruby KP100
Post by: ash on November 29, 2008, 12:29:56 AM
I was visiting my local TJ Hughes yesterday and saw this LG Ruby phone for 9.99 £. No top-up was needed. Its a pretty basic model but then only for a tenner. I collected 3 for X'mas gifts. I had to visit the till thrice as they were selling only 1 phone per customer. I haven't opened the boxes as I am planning to gift these so don't know if phones are locked to T-mobile or not.

Also available on-line but with delivery charges..not worth it

I'd say it is 99% definite that it would be locked !

I bought an LG Jumong phone from sainsbury's last year and it was locked to orange - also if it is a fairly newly released phone it may not yet be possible to unlock it or very expensive - more than the phone costs !

Sadly some of the nicest cheap phones can be very expensive or very difficult to unlock.  Also if you do a search on the phone model and unlock, some of the hits you get may not be genuinely providing a service.  Best to try to contact them first.  But better still to go to your local phone unlock place and maybe haggle a bit.  Then if there is any probs you have someone to go back to.
