Title: Change in forum policy.
Post by: mobaholic on November 19, 2008, 10:59:25 AM

We are beginning to be plagued by misplaced posts all over the forum.  To some extent this is inevitable - because of the rapid expansion of the forum, and the sheer numbers of new members who do not yet 'know the ropes'.  Their problems are well understood, and I try to show patience with them while they learn what to do.        ;)

However, this board is in a special place, which has proved far too easy to attract unwanted new topics from all and sundry, who either don't know the correct place to make a post, or simply couldn't care what chaos they cause by lazily taking the easy way out by posting on the first board available.
No fewer than five different new topics have been wrongly started here, and have had to be moved to their correct locations.        ???

So I have taken the decision to restrict posting rights to just Moderators and admin on this board from now on.  They alone are authorized to make any announcements on behalf of the forum.  I shall also remove the five posts announcing that a previous post has had to be removed, as these are just cluttering up this board.

Please will all members kindly understand the reasons for correctly placing a post in its own thread, or selecting the right board on which to start a new topic.

1).  Misplaced posts and topics make it difficult for both members and guests to find their way around;

2).  It wastes a lot of time, for both Moderators and admin, to have to split topics, move the new topic to another board, and attempt to
      merge it in the thread to which it belongs.  ( This time would be better spent being available to help members with their
      queries !   ;)  );

3).  When a misplaced post is moved, a redirection link has to be left in its place, and reasons given for the move.  This is a pain for
      both members and guests to have to read, when all that they are interested in is reading helpful new information.

So PLEASE will all members, both new and old, take greater care in future where they post.

Thank you.
