Virgin make a big push in Carphone Warehouse broadband

According to Mobile Today (http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/Virgin_strikes_broadband_deal_with_Carphone_Warehouse.html),

"Virgin Media has cut a deal with Carphone Warehouse that will see it take the lead spot in the retailer’s broadband section from October 1.

Virgin will push its premium fixed-line broadband package featuring free laptop, plus XXL broadband, XL phone and XL TV channels for £49.99 a month.

‘This marks the beginning of a significant push into Carphone’s broadband category for us.  It’s take a lot of effort and a fair while to get here, but we’re really excited about it,’ said Virgin’s sales director Rob Shardlow.

Carphone does around 10,000 broadband connections a month, including 2,500 fixed line.  It’s thought that Virgin is gunning for around 300-400 premium connections a month.  It has been heavily advertising its ‘super fast broadband’ deals, and exploiting its edge among competitors as it has cable infrastructure.

Separately, Virgin launched its mobile broadband proposition this week, offering 3GB for £15 a month.  It also offers three months free mobile broadband to customers who sign up to home broadband".
