Title: 1GB data introduced as 3 drops unlimited
Post by: mobaholic on July 12, 2010, 03:34:46 PM

Operator vows to be 'clear and transparent' over data allowances

3 has stopped offering unlimited voice, text and data to its customers in a bid to be ‘clear and transparent’.

Most contracts offered by the network will now have a set amount of minutes and texts.  In data, the operator is distinguishing itself from its competitors by offering 1GB of data, rather than the standard 500MB, to its customers.

Kevin Russell, 3’s CEO, said: ‘We think data pricing will become a differentiator for us.  From a customer’s point of view unlimited means unlimited.  The reality of the market is not how unlimited is communicated and consumers are confused.

‘One of the dumbest things that I and Marc [Allera, 3 sales and marketing director] have done was to talk about unlimited – it was one of the few occasions we were led by the market.’
