Title: Opera Mini Browser Rolls Out Across Three Mobile Network
Post by: mobaholic on December 17, 2010, 04:57:12 PM

UK mobile network Three is to offer its users Opera's mobile browser
.

The popular Opera Mini browser will be available to download from Three's portal by users of older phones, as well as up-to-the-minute smartphones.

Opera Mini uses compression technology to squeeze down the amount of data sent to and from a handset when browsing web pages. According to tech news site The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1931919/opera-mini-phones), this can reduce a user's data usage by up to 90 per cent.

Opera Mini is also famed for its fast browsing speeds and is available on several platforms including Android OS, iOS and Symbian.

Charlotte Blanchard, 3 UK’s Director of Products and Services said in a statement: “We want to bring the benefits of a great mobile Internet experience to all handsets, whether smartphones or not. Opera Mini helps us extend that experience to an even greater range of devices.”

While Opera's original desktop browser software has struggled to make headway against rivals Firefox and Internet Explorer in the mainstream browser market, the company's mobile browser has is highly successful with phone users.
