Hi guys, I have been struggling to find this information. I thought I had found this a couple of years ago.
There are a few sites that I have seen where you put the mobile number, and it tells you what network the number was originally on when it was first taken up, but does not have any porting information.
Does anyone know any website where you can input a ported mobile number as well and thus find out what its current network is?
Please help.

I know a service where you can pay for this ability, if it's that important to you?

Not that important. Its just that on my t-mobile tariff, they keep charging me randomly when i send texts to certain mobile numbers. now they claim that mvno's are not included in my text allowance which i think is stupid. the other time, they said that the number i sent a text to was an international located number, even though it was a uk mobile number . so they said, if the subscriber is located outside the uk with their mobile number, it will be an international text for me...all sounded very weird.
anyways, the link i was thinking about was a free one dave. which i just forgot.

This is a good site to look up any UK phone number even partial ones. http://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htmBut he does not tell you where the mobile number currently resides, only its original network.

Text Bal to 150 free, for Allowance info; my 2012 plan shows *500 UK SMS incl MVNO's* Which calls and text messages to mobile numbers are excluded from my allowance? (From T-Mobile) Calls and texts to some numbers starting 07 are not included in your allowance. Excluded mobile numbers include (but are not limited to) numbers used to provide call forwarding services, as well as to some MVNO number ranges. For a full list of 07 number ranges that are not included in allowances please visit the “help & Support” section of our website, t-mobile.co.uk. We may add numbers to the list of excluded mobile numbers from time to time at our discretion. Please also note that if you are calling someone who has ported an excluded mobile number to another operator, calls to that number may still be excluded from your allowance.

There is a free/cheap (depending on your charge for voicemail) but limited way to check simply but using direct voicemail deposit to another number within voicemail if network supported, which normally only allows to same network, if given next step to leave message, number is on same network your calling from, if not on another. Same applies to any service which is on-net only to test, e.g. Magic numbers, Everyphone, T-Mobile family booster etc. This is the case with main networks, MVNO's should work the same, not 100% though. Above method also takes into account ported numbers too

Which calls and text messages to UK mobile numbers are included in my allowance? (From T-Mobile/2012 Plans) Calls and texts to many of the most popular UK mobile numbers are included in your allowance. Inclusive calls currently include (but are not limited to) calls to the UK mobile numbers allocated to the national UK GSM cellular network operators T-Mobile, Orange, Hutchinson 3G, 02, and Vodafone. On this plan, calls to one of the mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) exclusively using numbers allocated to these UK GSM cellular network operators (e.g. Virgin, Tesco, Fresh) are also included, as well as calls to most other MVNO number ranges, such as those currently allocated to LycaMobile.
Hope this helps clarify.

HI Dan. So your first set of conditions is different in terms of MVNO's? So is this one here the latest latest? I managed to get the charges reversed finally. but my question remains, how do we still determine before sending the text/call which MVNO it relates to? Furthermore, I have not understood your "voicemail deposit" method. So i guess no one knows any sites after porting which tells which network you on?

In theory - you can leave voicemail messages for free to other customers within the same operator. If the system lets you leave a message to other customers' numbers on network 'A' it means that network 'A' operates/owns voicemail system. dlR

You've got it, as dlR.. seanjoe. Yes also free messages back & forth, e.g. OVP EQ Virgin on Orange.

No, both terms apply. All I can see on T-Mobile is 07 calls/text maybe the same? - Chargeable Outside of Allowances (Applicable to Customers joining after 1st February 2012 on PAYM 2012 & Full Monty plans) 074182 074409 077211 077856 078920 079788 Chargeable Outside of Allowances (Applicable to Customers joining before 1st February 2012) 07404 074406 07405 074407 07424 074409 07438 074413 07448 074414 07459 074418 07466 075206 07609 075207 07610 075371 07621 075373 07682 075592 07683 075594 07684 075599 074067 077211 074088 077856 074173 078220 074174 078221 074175 078222 074182 078224 074185 078226 074186 078744 074187 078920 074189 078925 074390 078930 074400 078931 074401 078938 074402 078939 074403 079112 074404 079118 074405 079788

I'm sure this site tells you which network your number was originally from and which network it's currently on. I just entered my number and under charging section it shows which network it was on originally. Under Locality or Use it shows current network. For my number, the above was correct, original network and current network. Has anyone else tried this and found out the same? Jagga303
