Middle and senior management roles to go at ‘Everything Everywhere’

An axe hangs over management roles at T-Mobile and Orange, after the duo unveiled their joint venture, ‘Everything Everywhere’, this week.

Senior and middle management jobs are likely to be lost at Orange and T-Mobile to ‘take out duplication’, Everything Everywhere CEO Tom Alexander told Mobile.

The joint venture confirmed its 23 top management roles on Tuesday 11 May, with Alexander the top man at the newly formed entity and T-Mobile MD Richard Moat the CFO and deputy CEO.

The changes will take effect when the companies officially come together on 1 July.

Alexander said: ‘There are going to be management roles that aren’t needed – we will take out duplication. There aren’t enough places for all the VPs, so there are some capable people who don’t have a role throughout the business.’

Alexander was unable to confirm numbers this week, and Orange said the cuts were still in the process of being decided.

Those thought to be leaving T-Mobile and Orange are: Mike Hughes, VP of transformation at Orange; Mike Newnham, VP of consumer at Orange; and Orange VP of legal and regulatory Alexander Lunshof.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile marketing director Srini Gopalan left the operator earlier this year for Vodafone, Orange retail chief Sian Doyle left in March this year, and T-Mobile finance director Lars Nordmark also left the business in March.

Alexander added: ‘We have only decided on the top team. Some people will leave the business, some will stay in different roles.  There is going to be some change. We are putting together a scale to really produce something that will change the market.
