Title: 2 hour porting plans back on track
Post by: mobaholic on August 12, 2008, 09:35:13 AM

According to Mobile Today (http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/Two_hour_porting_plans_are_back_on_track.html):

"The UK’s move towards two hour number porting appears to be back on track, following concerns that networks were slowing down the process.

Peter Black, chairman of the UKPorting committee, the group responsible for making sure that networks are ready for two hour porting by September 2009, had criticised ‘some communication providers’ for dragging their heels.

But in his latest report published last week, Black said he was pleased with the momentum of the project.

He said: ‘The executive members of UKPorting have re-affirmed their intention not to delay the project by re-opening old and previously agreed issues, thereby addressing one of the concerns I raised in the last Chairman’s update.’

Vodafone has led operator’s opposition to quicker porting, claiming that quicker porting will result in more slamming.  The verdict of Vodafone’s Competition Appeals Tribunal case is expected within the next few weeks".
