According to the TechCrunch newsletter, "French telecoms startup
Manifone has launched a service that lets you call Skype contacts directly, from any fixed line or mobile phone, with no Skype account, additional software, PC or handset required. They claim their Mani-Sky VoIP service is a first in the telecommunications industry, and by golly, I think they may be right".
Having just taken a look at manifone, it seems to be basically a local number provider, similar to
localfone.
Its rates seem a jumble of very competitive, and quite expensive. For example, looking at Hungarian mobiles as an example is just 3p / min. ( compared with 9.6p / min. on localfone ).
Pakistan is more expensive at 7p for landlines, and 9p for mobiles ( compared with 7.95p / min. for either landlines or mobiles on localfone. )
Nevertheless, this might be an interesting service for some to try using ( especially for its cheaper destinations. )
