Title: New 08xx & international addon EE/Orange
Post by: Dan on June 11, 2014, 06:14:03 AM
This is going to course a right storm... down to someone, looks like it's me! so here goes...
I tested fully over last few weeks, apart from a couple of in depth tests (most people wouldn't use) been billed etc, along with hard proof.

They now do an unlimited 08 add-on for single figure sum, it includes all of them! plus it's seems shortly they are to release unlimited international bundles to "certain" counties & text, plus an EU combo of the lot by the looks of it. Sorry I have no prices on those as yet, I can confirm one includes; Bangladesh, Pakistan & India.

Just to add Orange still do older 08xx bundles; £4 - for 50mins / £5 - 100mins / £10 - 500mins or (maybe up to 200mins on EE side) with Freefone numbers not taken from free minutes at all on Orange, just free of charge I think If I remember rightly.

Please do not ask for new international bundles, as I don't believe they are even on their system yet & most CS will know nothing.

That's all for today  :)

I noticed a few months back that there were mentions of 08 bundles and international bundles in the terms and conditions on the EE web site, so I guessed they were coming at some point.

Could you clarify though, are they only available on Orange or also T-Mobile & EE? If they are also available on EE, is the 08 bundle supposed to be available right now? I have multiple accounts with EE and don't see them, though that could be because they don't like me :P

I guess now that EE AIT almost all traffic (or so it seems) they can get away with offering unlimited 08 numbers ;)

Hi Dave (no.2!)
From my understanding thus far, not on T-mobile, officially 4GEE plans and/or maybe only part of upgrade, Orange it's possible, esp. older ones :-X
Yes unlimited available, that is if you can get someone at CS to find it! Also they just bar numbers as well.

Hi Dan (no.1?)

Are you saying that it's only possible to add via CS? Do you know the costs?

Title: Re: New 08xx & international addon EE/Orange
Post by: Dan on June 11, 2014, 11:02:39 AM
;D

Mainly CS, your unlikely to have option online just now, upgrades should if you mention, costs £5/month (12 months minimum for this one).
Costs & terms do go lower, that's more than enough clap trap for today!  :o

First of all, you should choose an appropriate thread to post this question, or start a new one in the correct sub-forum.

The particular number range you mention has been used for various services, one of my own included (which is no longer functional). However, the SIM is not what is sending the automatic text messages, it is your PHONE. If you want to stop it you'll have to look around on your phone or do a factory reset to remove the app/configuration that is sending these text messages.

On the other hand if you want to know where these text messages have been going then you should send a PM (do NOT post on a public thread) to the operators of the various services on this forum and you might find who these numbers belong to and how you can use any credits that *may* have been gained from the messages sent. There is no guarantee as it may not be a service operated by a forum member here.

I managed to get EE to add unlimited 08 calls for £3 per month! At least that's what the CS person said. It has apparently been added to my account, according to the verbal confirmation from the CS agent and also a text message which arrived an hour or so later. I can't really verify it at this point as it doesn't show up in My EE (neither does the EU Talk & Text add-on which I also added). Actually, even worse, none of my recent activity shows up on My EE. Not really sure what's going on but EE's billing obviously needs some attention. Hopefully when my bill is issued in a few days it will all make sense.

I have noticed that quite a few numbers/ranges are barred. About half of the call-through services I tried failed to connect. Some do though, so it doesn't appear they are just blanket barring all such services, maybe just the more heavily used ones.

I also asked the CS agent about their add-ons for unlimited EU/international calls and texts from the UK but got told that not all contracts offer all add-ons. If I was to increase the cost of my contract by £5 per month I could then add the international calls & texts add-ons at an additional cost on top, making the whole thing quite expensive but possibly useful for some people.

Well done Dave, need I say more ;)
Out of interest is this an 4GEE direct tariff (not Orange/T-Mobile) you added to these too?
I've only found the odd number barred not many; have you noticed full ranges then apart from ex Pre-Dial ones? I agree with the "heavily used" remark as this ties with my own findings. How on earth they can offer this mind boggles; have my theories but won't go into now, then again we have the way Non-Geo is charged changing in the near future, with service/access charges, whether they would continue to cover the full cost I'm not sure, maybe just access charge or will honour for exiting users.

What sort of price point/plan was they wanting you to move to, until they offer the other international add-on?
Also what prices were you given for the other bundles out of interest?

They didn't give me prices and wanted me to be spending at least £24.99 before it would be available.

First one said £5 unlimited Cal's to 0845
Second said £3 but Only 100 mins to 0845
Third place cal on hold and back advised after speaking to manager Will do it for £3
So m glad finally sorted

Hi Davegr,

You said you got verbal confirmation from the advisor about adding unlimited calls to 08 numbers on your account. So did you manage to get it in real?

So your plan comes with unlimited minutes?

Title: Re: New 08xx & international addon EE/Orange

It comes with unlimited 08 minutes thanks to the add-on but only 2000 minutes to fixed & mobiles. A bit odd, I know. I could just use an 08 call-through if 2000 minutes wasn't enough.

So you can have a plan with 1000/2000 cross net minutes and then have an add on of unlimited calls to 08 numbers? That's not bad at all :). I was under the assumption that calls to 08 numbers would use your regular allowance.

So if one is after unlimted calls to 08 numbers (like myself) then you can have their cheapest plan and then add the unlimited 08 calls add on? Have you got anything "special" going on btw?  ;)

I don't know if they'll let you add unlimited 08 numbers to a particularly cheap plan. See my PM for more info!

I have it on a zero rental tariff (no longer available) I think that answers your question.

That's even better :D. I have had an online chat with a couple of guy but both of them offered me limited minutes (200-500 if I remember correctly) to 08 number for £5 or £10 per month. They say unlimited minutes to 08 numbers is not possible for £3/month. I'm going to call them in the morning and let's hope I get hold of someone who knows what he's doing and give me what I want :)

Just to let you guys know:

The Tmobile glitch sim only which some of us took last year @ £0.00 per month, I have added the unlimited 08 add on to this sim.
It's been on there for one month now and it cost £3.00 per month.

So for 250 xnet mins, 500 texts, 500mb data and unlimited 08 add on all for £3.00 per month. ;D

So it seems the unlimited 08 add on can be added to T mobile as well as EE.

I don't think you are right on this occasion Dave.   :o

The Euro Talk costs £4-25 plus VAT, and gives half price calls to selected European destinations IIRC.  ;)

What you are talking about does indeed exist, but I feel sure that it goes by another name, which alas I can't recall right now.   :-[

Perhaps others can throw more light on this for us.  ;)

Your own link disproves what you are saying!   ::)

Your link shows an Add On that gives you something when roaming in Europe.   :'(

Lahore Bradshahs' query was about the UK Euro Talk package, which I again assert gives you half priced calls to selected European destinations.  ;)

When I directed him to the T&C's on their website he put me on hold for a few minutes only to inform me that those plans are not available anymore and the reason they're still in their T&C's is that some people are still on old contracts and still have those add ons so they can't remove them.

Also, I was offered unlimited 08 calls for £3/month earlier in the afternoon by another CS representative but this guy said it's going to be £5/month.

I called them yesterday and they added it without any questions asked for £3. I am on a 12 months sim only plan.

I made couple of calls to 08***** numbers but these calls are not appearing in the itemized un-billed usage on t-mobile website.

That's right I have same unlimited 08 booster which includes 080,0845,0844,0870,0871,0872,0843 etc....
Very good value for money £3 a month.

Yes it's with EE but the booster is not on there website
You have to phone them and ask.

I know everyone (including myself) is excited about this new 08 booster/add on from EE but please guys use it sensibly even for personal calls. If you're one of those people who call their loved ones for hours everyday then EE wouldn't have a leg to stand on and would withdraw this offer (they can, anytime BTW) as some of the 08 numbers can cost upto 10ppm.

As we all know that all the networks are closely monitoring excessive usage for the past year or so and in result have blocked a few number ranges. So yeah, please be sensible and enjoy it for as long as possible. The life of this amazing offer is in our own hands :)

EDIT: Obviously I have no right whatsoever to tell/ask people on here what to do but take it just as an opinion please and not personally. I am sure a few of our members would agree with me.

It could be a typing mistake in the text, don't get too excited. But if you're getting all that for paying nothing then you are one lucky sod ;D.

No ideas of making cash, don't even bother mate. As I said yesterday, it's better for all of us to use this 08 add on very sensibly if we want it to last a bit longer. But yes, if you or any other members decide to hammer it, you're free to do so but it won't be long when T-mobile/EE will just pull the plug and ruin the fun for everyone.

No, I am not using cash4minutes.

Making 2 calls at the same time, probably for a few hours everyday is not very sensible is it?  :) It wasn't a big issue about a year ago but it's not a great idea anymore. I myself used to place 6 calls at a time from a few different sims in the good old days ;)

Your  are right but if it's gonna happened it will happened. I might aswell make good use of it. It happened to  call cashback. But new service came so I am being positive about it. If it goes then surely something else will come along. Thanks for your advise though...

What a moronic post!   ::)

Your English grammar is practically non existent, and your argument is so selfish and shortsighted that it would be laughable, were it not so uncaring of the fate that others will suffer along with you.   :P

Shame on you.   :'(

I am reminded of Del Boy's phrase to Rodney:  "You're a 24 carrat plonker!"

i took out a 30 day rolling out when it arrived I tried to get the 08 add on and was told no so I argued with them for a bit only to be told to upgrade to a 12 month contract for £25.99 and 9gb internet for the hassle for free  and I asked them for another sim which the said the would give at half price they said they would confirm this by txt when they did they made a mistake by writing £0/month so my billed was made up and I called them and argued the fact in the text it said I will be charged £0/month for one of the sims so after serveral calls back and forth they gave in and said they will honour the text ;D

Talkal (http://www.talkal.com) are now offering a free 08 number to most international destinations according to their facebook page at

Might be useful to some with this add on.

After numerous tries I failed to get it added on a EE SIM only (12 months) deal. Any tips guys?

The CS simply says that this add-on is now not available and I have to be on a full 24 months phone contract to get it added :(

However they have offered me 30 minutes of free 08 calls and free unlimited 080 calls.

Keep on trying and you might get through to a person who knows what he's doing. They tried to sell me a 24 month contract as well when I asked for unlimited 08 calls on my new 12 month sim only contact. On the other hand there is a high possibility that they have now stopped adding unlimited 08 add ons on new sim only contracts as they are saying.

A bit of update.

Today i have spoken to some one from customer relation team and she has offered me to "upgrade" my account to 23.99 instead of 21.99 and she will then be  able to add that booster. so my package will be

EE SIM ONLY (12 months).................... £23.99
(unlimited min/text, 2GB Data)
Discount............................................. £-9.00
£3 unlimited 08 call booster.................. £3.00
------------------------------------------------------
Total ................................................. £17.99

Just wondering is it any good? as virgin mobile offers a 30 days VIP plus package with unlimited min, text & data (3.5GB) and unlimited calls to 0800, 0870, 0845 and 0808 numbers But it does not include unlimited calls to 0871 numbers.

The good thing about Virgin VIP plus package is, it is 30 days rolling and does include some 08 numbers (0800, 0870, 0845 and 0808) but does not include all 08 numbers. Not sure if it allows Mikael conference services?

The good thing about EE deal is, it allows unlimited 08 calls but it is a 12 month contract. Also, it does not allow Mikael conference calling services :(

Any comments/suggestions?

There are other services that will do what you need by using an 0871 number.

On EE 4G plans, calls & texts to Jersey, Guernsey & Isle of Man cost 40p per minute and 25p per minute respectively.
