3 UK increased its customer base by 15% during the year ended 31 December 2009, reaching 6.2 million customers as of March 2010.
The operator’s parent group, Hutchison Whampoa, reported its results for the full year today (30 March).
According to the figures for the UK and Ireland, 2.5 million of 3’s customers are prepay, while 3.7 million are contract. Its contract base now makes up 62% of overall customers, down from 68% a year ago.
Revenue fell by 1% to £1.5bn, compared with the same period in 2008, while ARPU fell by 21% to £26.46.
Churn increased from 2.6% to 3% at the end of December.
