Title: Apple iPhone 4G Reportedly Being Produced By Pegatron
Post by: mobaholic on February 05, 2010, 02:57:15 PM

It has been rumored that Apple Inc., has signed another hardware manufacture to produce the 4G version of its popular smartphone offering, the iPhone, which recently received a software update by the Cupertino based company.

Several industry sources have confirmed that Apple has commissioned Pegatron Technologies, a subsidiary of Taiwan based computer hardware manufacturer Asus, to manufacture the fourth generation iPhone or iPhone 2010, which is tipped to be released later this year.

Pegatron Technologies will join the ranks of Foxconn, another Taiwan based technology manufacturer which, before this, was the only manufacturer of iPhone in the world.  Foxconn also produces other Apple products apart from the iPhone 3GS, such as Mac Mini and iPod music devices.

However, despite all the rumors, Pegatron has refused to give any comments on the speculated deal but has mentioned that the company expected its phone shipments to grow significantly in 2010.

The company has also bagged a number of phone manufacturing contracts from other technology vendors.

The news of Apple’s tie-up with Pegatron follows the roll-out of a much needed iPhone and iPod Touch software update that provides patches for a bunch of security vulnerabilities that had affected Apple’s two most popular devices.

Their Comments :-

Asus has spun out Pegatron Technology a few years ago to allow itself to focus exclusively on end-user products.  Pegatron is specialised in bigger partners like Apple or Dell.  There are only a handful of such manufacturers in the world.  Compal, Foxconn, Inventec, Pegatron, Quanta and Winstron account for most finished computers being produced worldwide.
