I think eventually all the telcos will gradually remove 08 calls from their inclusive allowances. I signed up for Vonage a few days ago because they offered free calls to 08 numbers and ive checked my account today and they have removed the free 08 calls and are now charging 9.5p access charge.
I just think its a matter of time before everyone else catches up.

Same.. mind boggles why providers would hang around, I think they have it better then last time just now particularly with 0870, given the crazy inclusive 0870/0845 deals still available and those likely enough to be on previous deals. I suppose it needs time for them to adjust with new pricing/bit of a headache I guess!
Who is providing "crazy" inclusive 0870/0845 deals? Most of the landline providers I know have removed them from free bundles, not in all cases though.

They cant charge you for freephone calls. They are Free full stop. The 9.5p access charge is for 084/087 calls. Go to: [Vonage don't want links from other sites like this. They believe it causes them problems] and click on UK Calls and your see " This does not affect calls to 0800 and 0808 numbers, which are still free from the Vonage service."

O2 removed the reference that their access charge will increase from 25p to 45p from 15/8/15 They have now replaced it saying increase will take place from 17/8/15. See: http://www.o2.co.uk/help/everything-else/service-numbers

If you use it for contacting friends and family abroad rather than generating cashback, I can't imagine it would be a problem!

Precisely, in the past it was advertised as allowing calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers. Now it is says 084 and 087, so I assume Vodafone now include 0844, 0871, 0872 as well! I shall do some testing to find out.
How do I check my remaiming allowances for 08 calls? I can't see any info on the app or on their website. To top it up I have just been informed my a Vodafone advisor that there is no such option to check 08 allowances and I will need to keep an eye on my call log..Really?

Just for information, I have announced a new service on a new board in the forum which will allow people to use inclusive 0870 calls for many destinations. http://www.foneforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,2974.msg28932.html#new

How long before all the main networks do the same, I wonder?
It's also interesting to see that ASDA Mobile is actually going to charge less than all but one of the landline networks. I don't think The Peoples Operator has announced their access charge yet but along with ASDA Mobile they are looking to be good value for money for general low-medium usage.
Just thought I would update that The Peoples Operator has the cheapest access charge of all networks at 5ppm.
