Title: Virgin mobile to charge for calls to VoIP numbers from 1st December.
Post by: mobaholic on November 14, 2009, 10:50:16 AM

According to http://groups.google.com/group/uk.telecom.voip/t/10d225a61f1853c8?hl=en-GB (http://groups.google.com/group/uk.telecom.voip/t/10d225a61f1853c8?hl=en-GB), this information is being sent out with Virgin Mobile monthly bills.        ???

The information seems confused and confusing ( 0844 probably being muddled up with 056 ! ), but it probably shouldn't be ignored.

If anyone can throw more light on this matter, kindly post below.

This is rather bizarre, and (depending on the extent) I think this could even be illegal! I am not sure what the extent of this is though. e.g. People who own an incoming VoIP number (DID) with a geographic area code usually have to pay for this privelage. What right would virgin have to charge a supplemement on people calling such a number given the termination onto it is the same as calling any other?

Does anyone have a URL of the text that was quoted? :

No URL was provided unfortunately: the claim was that this information was being sent out with monthly bills, as stated in my OP.        ;)
