Title: T-Mobile EU data roaming: beware!
Post by: davegr on May 12, 2012, 05:21:07 PM

Hi all

As some of you know I recently went to Greece. As some of you will also know, T-Mobile says that in order to use data roaming inside the EU you must buy a booster. According to the message you receive when first turning on your phone in an EU country, you will be redirected to a page to buy a booster, if you try to access the Internet.

Anyway - during my time here in Greece, I have obviously used WiFi in a few locations - however, it seems that at some times I have been out of the WiFi coverage area and even though T-Mobile says you will not have Internet access without buying a booster, I have been charged about £1.53 per MB, totalling about £75. The same usage would have cost £10 with a booster (though that is neither here nor there as Internet access should not have been allowed in this case).

So, if you travel inside the EU and use T-Mobile, you might want to check your bills.
