Title: Windows Phone 7 Gets Backing From UK Networks
Post by: mobaholic on September 24, 2010, 01:16:39 PM

Microsoft has revealed today that it has received the backing from all the five major mobile networks in the UK as well as support from the Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U.

It is, we believe, the first time that a platform developer has publicly made such a statement; Orange UK, which will soon merge with T-Mobile, will be their Windows Phone 7's lead partner.

Alex Reeve, Director, Mobile Business Group, Microsoft UK, said "It is wonderful now to have all of the UK’s network operators supporting the launch of Windows Phone 7. This means we can provide network choice and also a range of phones across networks for customers to choose from [..]. We are thrilled to be working in partnership with these major industry players.”

We also expect the smaller mobile phone operators like Virgin Media, Tesco and Talkmobile to offer Windows Phone 7 handsets as well in due course.

Windows Phone 7 will be launched on the 11th of October 2010 and it is not known whether the likes of Orange or Vodafone will be actively offering the recently announced Zune music service.

Zune competes directly with Orange's Musicstore, Vodafone's Music and 3 UK's strategic partnership with Spotify.
