Title: Requesting new service
Post by: jagga303 on November 16, 2011, 10:16:33 PM
Hi
It would be great if Mikael, Davegr, Mobaholic or anyone in the business could start a new service for us forum users.
It would be similar to Precaller, where we would send a sms to 07937 or any other inclusive number and gain credit to call abroad. Also have a inclusive 07 drop top up call to gain credit. Also make a website for us to register our numbers so we can check credit and allow other numbers to share credit.
Precaller is very good but I think if we could have a similar service for us on here moderated by Mikael/Davegr/Mobaholic then I think forum members would really appreciate it, well at least I would be greatful.
Am I asking for too much?
What are your views?

Please share.

Why not try suggesting to PreCaller to add in the features you find lacking, eg. to be able to share numbers?

Precaller allows to share with other numbers, but in the past Precaller has suddenly stopped working and you couldn't use the units gained, although it starts again after a few days. But I think a similar service from someone here will be reliable.
A good feature would be the 07 drop top up call which Precaller does not have.

Jagga303 the problem with your suggestion is that there is a big risk of not getting paid by the networks.

The 076 "drop call" numbers are actually only supposed to be used for pagers, which are obviously not in wide use these days. It's too easy for the networks to refuse to pay on the basis that the numbers are not being used for their agreed regulatory purpose.

There is a similar issue with the sms top-up numbers such as 07924, 07937, 07710 etc. They easily spot such usage and then drag their feet about payments for months on end.

Thanks Davegr, you make valid points.

Thanks a valid point indeed. We don't want you guys to be out of the pocket , do we? :D

Anyway. I've got a different idea. In the past we used to send texts to gain credits for making calls. Could we not get a service that we make calls (ie 03 top up calls) to gain credits for sending texts? That way we could send international texts from any network providing there is enough credit to do so.

That's an interesting idea and possibly workable.

Mikael's standard sms top up calling service has been very great and excellent service from 2008 to 2010.it has been the best service to make international calls.if that service resume again, than I think there shall be no need of any service.

currently following services are operating to make international calls.

1.Mikael's services:
03 topup calling service
PAYG mobile international calling service
skype topup calling service

2.davegr's call through service
3.pre caller topup calling service
4.pre caller sms topup service.
5.cheap to dial calling service.

all of the above services uses unlimited landlines and unlimited text packages.except PAYG service.
due to  strict changes in different mobile phone network policies in 2010,any new service like SMS topup calling service, shall not last longer.

Agree with that but still worth though, saved me loads of loads ££££££££££££s except once i have been charged around £80 because calls did not disconnect after 59 minutes because i am on vodafone and vodafone policy is have to disconnect call after 60 minutes

I back dlr's suggestion for international texts service, as we have no alternative, just one by Mikael, which sometimes has few issues. So there must be an option.

I, too, think this should be entirely practical.  In fact, the sending texts abroad service is actually run on the same network as is used by the 03 topup service, so in principle it should just be a question of Mikael discussing this with them, agreeing a cost in 03 units for sending texts, and setting it up for you.        ;)

This might actually be a better arrangement than the current one ( with intermittent, and sometimes prolonged, 07893 text delivery problems. )       ;)

Is there any news for the above suggested arrangements, as it would be great to use both Calls and Texts abroad with one service/option.
Kill two birds with one stone.  ;)

If Mikael isn't interested in pursuing this then I may take a look at it.

Great summary.
just  went into precaller: calling a 03 access number for 2 minutes gains 1 credit; thus, is precaller not a better and faster option to gain credits as compared to mikael's 03 topup service???

I don't think there's enough financial incentives as possible profit/turnover wouldn't be that attractive compared to providing calls...

At least we've got a scope now :D

2013  ;D ;D
