Title: Internet access service with Geo access no Post by: A1ia5 on November 01, 2008, 01:55:28 PM As the call through services using standard sms's to top-up seem to be a big success, there are other services that could be provided using standard sms's and other methods for payment.
GeoISP.co.uk use to provide an ISP by means of a UK Geographic access no. There were no charges for this and if you had inclusive landline minutes on your home phone or indeed mobile, it was quite useful. However, over the past year their services has degraded to the extent that it is no longer usable. Currently their number still seems to be an ISP bt their website is not operating. As an idea for Mikael, could you provide the same/similar, but be paid for by using the top-up services that you have for the call throughs ? (Obviously they would be different nos to distinguish them from this service). Such a service is particularly useful to people with many inclusive minutes as it enables the use of the internet (on your phone or any attached device) albeit at a very slow speed. From my own experience it is adequate for surfing without graphics and basic email access. Also from a landline it is a good backup for broadband users, having problems or in the process of migrating from one provider to another, or indeed, between providers. Further, if you depend on a dial-up, this could then be a useful backup, if you main provider has any problems.
