Yesterday Mikael was lamenting O2's action in blocking his range of 0871 topup numbers, and my own reaction was to reflect that: "every cloud has a silver lining."        ;)

Well it seems to me that the event to which Mikael referred has actually done us quite a bit of good !
In particular, there has been a lot of very unusual activity on the forum.        :)

All in all, it seems there is truth in another old saying: "It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good !"        ;D

it seems since the pre-dial SMS top up numbers were shut down there has been many users logged on. Currently there are a record 23 users online!!!

I felt most sympathetic towards Mikael having to send out text messages to all his customers last evening, but the strange phenomenon of successive blows to pre-dial services ( first O2 blocking the 0871 topup numbers, then the text numbers being cut off ) continues to do nothing but good to the forum !        ;D

It is a great embarrassment ( and annoyance ) to me that I have not been able to update this thread ever since our forum software upgrade was done back in June of this year, and I am even more annoyed that the problem I uncovered and reported back in July has still not been addressed, even though I have chivvied Mikael many times, and he keeps saying he will speak to the man who can set it right.

I am writing this not just because I believe I have good cause to be annoyed, but also to make it clear that there has been no change in policy here, and I fully intend to welcome new members here at intervals again as soon as the software allows me to do so.  In the meanting, a warm welcome to all 320 members who have joined since my last update of this thread on the 8^th June.        :)
