Title: Virgin Mobile Launches UK's Cheapest PAYG Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic Yet
Post by: mobaholic on February 09, 2009, 04:42:45 PM

Virgin Mobile has released the cheapest Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic handset yet at under £181 delivered in the United Kingdom.  The deal includes a 20 percent discount that is available for a limited time only.

The mobile is originally available for £224.98 but the £43 price cut makes the deal even sweeter even if the mobile phone is locked to Virgin (ed: it can apparently be unlocked for only £15).

As part of Virgin Mobile's PAYG offer, customers will be able to get 250 free texts for the first four month, web access for as little as 30p a day, unlimited free texts during weekends (when topping up for £10 per week).

As an additional bonus, punters will get 5 free minutes of calls a day, when you talk for 5 minutes and 5 free texts a day, when you send 5 messages which amounts to up £35 worth of free calls and texts a month.

You can access the deal through this page (http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/lifestyleLanding.do) (thanks to Racoon from Hotukdeals). You can also get 20 percent off other PAYG Virgin phones using the same code.

Mobile.co.uk (http://www.mobiles.co.uk/o2-nokia-5800-xpressmusic.html) has the best deal on the Nokia 5800 at £15 per month with five months at half price (a £37.50 discount), provided that you sign up for 24 months.

The Nokia 5800 is Nokia's first mainstream touchscreen smartphone and although it is not as eye catching as the iPhone, the phone is significantly cheaper than Apple's offering both on PAYG and on contract.

Compared to the rest of the competition, it packs significantly more punch.  It has a bigger screen than the Samsung Tocco for example and 8GB memory, while costing less than both phones on PAYG.

Most importantly though, the Nokia 5800 is one of the first true touchscreen phones to be available at the £15 pyschological barrier.  In comparison the G1 is only available on £30+ contracts.
