It involved a cheap, low power licence which will only be able to receive and make calls within close distances to their base stations, which will be with Spectrum Interactive phone kiosks run by the Wi-Fi hotspot operator. Quote Behind UK01 is a company called Mapesbury Communications Ltd, whose CEO Magnus Kelly said in a statement that "this agreement is an important milestone, as it accelerates our ability to launch the UK's 6th mobile phone network". The model for any of them may be IP-connected GSM picocells as an alternative to wi-fi. But it would also be interesting to see them come up with some roaming agreements, either here or abroad. Check their website. It diverts you to a new company called Noo. The website looks so much like the old Noodle website!!!

There is a pdf download available from the website, together with an introduction, and an email address for queries:- info@mapesbury.com One to watch until more is known. ;) |
