According to Mobile Today, Nokia is launching its 6220 - to be backed with a major navigation ad campaign.

"Nokia launched its latest handset the 6220 in the UK today after revealing it had shipped two million GPS enabled devices over the past 12 months.

The 6220, which will be priced around £250, is one of the first Nokia devices on the market to come pre-loaded with new Nokia Maps 2.0.

The device includes a GPS location finder and built-in compass as well as multimedia city guides with information on new restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions and points of interest.

The 6220 classic is also the first ‘Connect’ Nokia device to feature a 5 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss optics.

A-GPS functionality allows photos to be ‘geotagged’ – making them easier to search and share.

Images can also be viewed on a television screen with the integrated TV-out feature, sent from phone to phone via wireless Bluetooth connection, or viewed in full colour on the phone’s large 2.2 inch display.

The Nokia 6220 classic also includes an internet browser, email, music player, FM radio with RDS and up to 8GB of memory – a fully featured converged device.

Simon Ainslie, managing director for Nokia UK said: ‘Navigation is becoming an integral part of your mobile device.

‘When consumers are looking to purchase a mobile device the key features they are looking for are a great camera, great music capabilities and now navigation.

‘The 6220 classic includes all of these features and by selling over 2 million GPS enabled devices this is proof that navigation is becoming more accessible to everyone.’"
