O2 is emailing its customers with news that sales of its 3G iPhone begin today at 8 a.m.        Wink

iPhone 3G is here and its free*

The iPhone you've been waiting for.  Order from 8am today

As promised we are writing to you to keep you updated on the next steps to getting an iPhone 3G.
We do, however, expect demand for iPhone 3G to be very high so orders will be processed on a first come, first served basis so that we can be fair to all customers.
Orders will be limited to one iPhone 3G per customer.

* The new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs.  And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff.  Terms apply.

If you want to place your order, all you need do is click on the link below on your Mac or PC, select the tariff, select the iPhone 3G model and sign a new 18-month contract online.

Initial, successful orders will be delivered on 11th July by courier, and will require a signature as proof of receipt.

Order now

Soon after I made this post - and iPhone sales were supposed to begin on O2 - their website went down.         Roll Eyes

There is a dispute about whether this was due to pressure of demand, or was a tactical ploy.        Grin

However, O2 have now blamed Apple for their chaos.        Huh

See here.

There is an interesting review of the 3G iPhone, comparing it with its predecessor, here.

the iphone launch was a shambles... my local o2 store only had 3 16gb versions and 8 of the 8gb version.... there was a line of 20 people standing outside....

i am willing to wait to get the phone... but after reading reviews i am wondering is it really that good?
