Possible software update this weekend

This is just to let members know that Mikael and I are hoping that the company which hosts our forum server will be able to update our software for us over this weekend.

This is not definitely going to happen, but we have been told that they intend to try.

IF this happens, and all goes well, there should be no interuption in service.

However, if this proves difficult for any reason, it is just possible the forum may be down for some time.

If the latter happens, there is no cause for concern, as it will be a temporary interruption, not the forum closing !

We have been running on SMF 1.1.6 very nearly since the start, but there have been 5 updates since then, so we are hoping to move to SMF 1.1.11 shortly.

SMF 2.0 will be out as they have realeased RC3 which seems good to me. there is no harm in updating to .11 and it will be straight forward . I hope they have taken the backup of site and database for the worst and rare case .

Just to let the forum know, the upgrade didn't happen last weekend - as there was a major problem elsewhere that had to take priority over this.

Mikael will be contacting them later on when he knows that problems elsewhere have been dealt with.

I will update this thread when I have more information.
