There are 2 updates to my post above:-

Firstly, the free Giffgaff data has now been extended till the end of June;        Smiley

and secondly, the reward payback / cash allowance for getting new sign ups has been doubled to £10 each before 31st May.        Shocked  Wink

Anybody fancy my getting Gigggaff to send them a SIM ?        Undecided

It isn't quite like that

There is anyway a 500 point reward for getting someone to join

And there's a current promotion that if 500 friends get signed up by the end of the month, anyone who helped towards it will get 500 points, that's once, not per new joiner

So, if you sign up 1 person and the target was hit you'd get 1000 points worth £10, but if you sign up say 5 it would be 5 x 500 + 500 = 3000

At the moment the total is near 200, increasing at 25 or more per day and with a day or two processing lag on the count, so 500 is reachable

I had reason to look on the Giffgaff website last night, and I see that offers have been extended again.        Shocked

The half price goodybags, that were once said to be for just July, were extended to August too, and now it is showing them as being available till the 5th September.  That is only a small increment, but welcome nonetheless.        Smiley

But of much greater significance is the free data offer.  This was initially a promotion which was to last for 6 months only.  O2 failed to deliver a pricing mechanism for Giffgaff, I believe, so then it got extended till June, then till July, then till the 1st September, and now it is showing as continuing till the 1st December !        Grin

BJ thank you for giving the google quote, but unfortunately that only spreads giffgaff misleading propaganda.        Roll Eyes

I know for a fact that they DO have a FUP for unlimited texts: they are just not honest enough to say so, or to specify what it is.       Huh

We have a member here who sent his 380 texts one day, but his wife didn't know that and did the same.  The very next day they found their SIM disconnected, and even their Giffgaff account likewise, so that they couldn't even log in to query it.  The member concerned has checked with his friends, and unfortunately this rough justice is not an isolated event.  There was not even any prior warning or request to moderate use of texts.       Huh

I can confirm from personal use that you can send ~ 400 SMS daily, and that texts to other Giffgaff users ( which are free for 3 months when you topup or buy a goodybag ) are over and above this allowance, but please don't believe their 'bullshit' about having no FUP for unlimited texts.       Wink

Please be warned and use such sensibly.

I'd be very surprised if GiffGaff policy was different to the o2 use policies. 400 sounds about right :-)

Perhaps you would prefer the official quote seeing as you dont like my original offering. Smiley

"Is unlimited really unlimited?

The answer is yes, we are unlimited for personal mobile use - but not for commercial and automated use. Mobile Internet allowances exclude PC use and tethering."

This is what they say officially.

Yes you are quoting giffgaff correctly: I know well what they write.

It is just a shame that they don't practice what they say.

My quarrel is with the apparent sad lack of integrity of their public pronouncements, not your posts BJ.       Wink

I can confirm mobaholic is right in saying that. I have been a victim of giffgaff blocking/deactivating my sim without any warning as I had sent 381 texts twice in a day by mistake.

Later I heard a similar story from a friend of mine too..

I should leave this to Madhu to answer for himself, but I will simply observe that as they deleted his Giffgaff online account, as well as confisgated his balance and disconnected his SIM, it would be a little hard for him to do so !        Huh

No I didn't. I didn't wanted to drag too much on that and bring every ones attention on to the texts top-up service. Anyway text top-up on O2/giffgaff is history now. Still I am not sure if it worth bringing up on their forum.
