The price of one of our all time favourite smartphones, the Orange San Francisco, has been dropped to less than £80 when bought from Tesco and using the voucher code TDX-KMAW at check out.

The handset, which is also known as the ZTE Blade, is very popular amongst hobbyists because of its exceptionally good value for money as well as its hacker-friendliness which has spawn a big fan base in the UK.

The deal from Tesco requires a £10 top-up purchase from Orange which can be redeemed against 300 texts and free internet for the first month. The San Francisco comes with an overclocker-friendly Qualcomm MSM7227 system on chip running at 600MHz.

There's also 512MB RAM, a 3.2-megapixel camera with AF but no flash, a bundled 2GB microSD card, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, three sensors, Android Eclair 2.1, an FM radio and a 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.

There's also a number of related orange service that include a Sat-nav and a number of other Android-based applications. The San Francisco can very easily be unlocked and upgraded to Android OS 2.2.

The Orange San Francisco fills a nice niche market between the ultra cheap-but-not-so-cheerful Android handsets (like the HTC Racer) and the more expensive models like the HTC Desire which costs between three and four times the price tag of the OSF.
