"Cheaper calls to mobiles from May
You may remember the 'Terminate the Rate' campaign we launched back in 2009 to persuade Ofcom to reduce mobile termination rates. We thought the rates were unfair, so we got together with mobile operator 3 to campaign against them.

What are mobile termination rates?
Every time you call a friend’s mobile from your BT landline or from a different mobile network you pay more than 4p a minute to the mobile operator. Mobile termination rates were introduced years ago to encourage mobile network construction. But they are still with us.

The campaign result
Thanks to the fantastic support from 160,000 customers, 262 MPs and 66 major businesses, charities and public-sector organisations, we convinced Ofcom to lower the rates.

So, on 28 May, we’ll cut the cost of calling a UK mobile from your BT landline.
