Hi!

Anyone interested in buying a decent basic handset with reasonable battery life could consider buying NOKIA 100.

It's available from many retailers.

For example you could get it from tesco for £9 (double locked to o2 and tesco) or £13 (locked to virgin mobile) or £19 (simfree & unlocked).

It costs £9.99 at o2. (unlocked). Free home delivery and no topup required. It would cost only £4.44 after £5.55 TCB cashback.

Also you could go for a pink Nokia 100 at PrePayMania for £4.99 (plus £10 minimum topup required). Altogether only £9.94 after £5.05 TCB cashback (topup included).

The battery life on the Nokia 100 is terrible compared to the Samsung E1080 or E1200 Smiley In my experience it also drops calls a lot more often in marginal signal areas.

Also I've never found PAYG phones from O2 to be unlocked!

Official specs are very similar:

e1080 Standard talk time: 7h 30min
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/mobile-phones/bar/GT-E1080ZKIXEU-spec
e1200 Talk Time : Up to 7 Hours (2G)
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/mobile-phones/bar/GT-E1200ZKABTU

I can't comment on call drops  Wink

All handsets I got from o2 were unlocked and AFAIK o2 does NOT lock any apart from premium ones (ie iphone).

I have 2 E1080i's which I bought from O2 (proving that not all phones are unlocked from them!). I have never been able to unlock them, it seems they change the unlock codes from the default.

O2 themselves say they can only unlock them if I can give them the number of the sim they were sold with, which I don't remember!

I can confirm NOKIA 100 sold by o2 is unlocked thou.

They do unlocking for free if you're a contract customer. If you're not, then you can try yours or someone else's o2 contract or sim only details to get your pay as you go phone unlocked for free. I know someone who used his brother's sim only details to get his pay as you go phone unlocked for free. Worth a punt  Wink

You know what, I tried that and they still insisted they needed to know which sim the phones were sold with and without that info it would be impossible to find the unlock code...

Give this a try: Ebay item number 300838653663. I'm not sure if they work or not as I haven't used them personally.

This phone is brilliant. ALL DAY LONG on line and only 3/5 of battery used Grin

The only bad thing IMO is you cannot lock the keypad during the call.
