 Can you please suggest which make & model to buy?
And also let me know which lens to buy?

I dont know that much about digital cameras, but have a look at Steve's Digital Cameras website: http://www.steves-digicams.com/

Its pretty much the 'definitive' website to go to for more info on models/reviews .

If you ask someone who owns a Canon, he will always recommend Canon. Same is true with Nikon.
To be honest both are good.
Doesn't matter which one you go for, buy a 50mm lens which is known as prime lens, a must have for every DSLR owner. Apart from that you usually get 18-55 lens with the camera. If there is an option, I would buy Camera body only and then buy a 18-200 lens instead.

 Finally bought Nikon D3200 camera(entry level DSLR) with 18-105mm kit lens.
