If you are with O2, you can use their "Tu Go" App on your smartphone. If you want you can use a local sim in India for data (or use wifi locations) You can receive and make calls in the UK using "Tu Go" from your inclusive minutes.

It's free mate. All you need is a good data connection (3G or wifi) and free minutes on your o2 account to make calls. But the reviews of this app are not great as far as I know.

I have used it personally when I was away from UK. I wouldn't rate it great, but I won't complain too much either as it is completely free and saves you loads of Roaming costs.

They are smartphone apps at the end of the day and keep improving with time (hopefully!! Smiley )

Dear kennyboy,

Please share your experience after your trip.

Last year, I used www.acecallonline.co.uk but recently the site is down. If anybody has alternate option, please tell.
How it was working: Here India mobile number 0091xxxxxxxxxx gets assigned to 0753xxx. Then forward your mobile calls to this 0753xxx number so at least all UK calls used to get landed in India for free. It uses your inclusive mins.  I know that this will not help you but might give some idea.  Smiley

Have you seen this:

http://www.vectonemobile.co.uk/pay-as-you-go/offers/offer-1p-roaming.aspx

Incoming Calls : 1 p/min in India.

Also outgoing calls to UK from India using vectone's smart-roaming (call back service) is 13p/min:
