It is now only a few weeks before the biggest change ever to the way non-geographic numbers are charged for takes place. Many networks have been dragging their heals about revealing how much they will charge their customers as their access charge. Many of the large ones have still not updated their websites with this key information. Looking at various sources I have seen what most large providers will be charging, but there are many who still have not revealed anything.

List So far:

Mobile providers - It is not yet clear if plans on any mobile network which included 08 calls will continue to do so. However, there is a good chance they may.

Orange - 44p
EE - 44p
T-Mobile - 44p
Vodafone - 23p - Increasing to 45p on August 10th ! 23p rate available for less than 6 weeks.
Three - 25p

GiffGaff - 15p
Tesco Mobile - 25p
Phone Co-op Mobile - 21p
Asda mobile - 8p
TalkTalk mobile - 20p
TalkMobile - 20p
Virgin Mobile - 36p
BT Mobile - 30p

Landline providers - Surprisingly, it seems all networks so far will keep inclusive 0845 / 0870 calls where already included, with the exception of TalkTalk and the Phone Co-op.

TalkTalk - 5p
BT Home Phone - 9.58p
Phone Co-op landline - 7.2p
KC - 7p
Plusnet 9.58p
SSE - 6.9p
Virgin Home Phone - 10.25p
SKY - 9.5p
John Lewis Home Phone - 9.58p

The PAYG mobile service will be revamped for July and there are some other services I am working on too. New services on 0870 numbers looks like they could be very useful. Hopefully others will report other access charges when they are know and also report which network keeps their promise of keeping 0845 and/or 0870 calls inclusive!

Also, one thing to note is that Orange PAYG customers will be barred from calling 09 and 118 numbers.

I have a feeling that those who have opted to keep 0845/0870 inclusive may well regret their decision and have perhaps not understood that 0870 will now have a service charge of up to 13ppm.

BT have announced that a fair usage policy (1000 minutes per month or maximum of 150 calls per month) would apply to 0870/0845 numbers effective from 1st of July  2015.

I seem to recall that this was always their FUP anyway!

So they set their access charge at 23p/min then saw that EE is going to charge 44p per minute and didn't want to miss out of the extra revenue and even went one better!

How long before all the main networks do the same, I wonder?

It's also interesting to see that ASDA Mobile is actually going to charge less than all but one of the landline networks. I don't think The Peoples Operator has announced their access charge yet but along with ASDA Mobile they are looking to be good value for money for general low-medium usage.

Vodafone are taking the proverbial with their increase. Their first charge of 23p is only going to be available for less than 6 weeks, before nearly doubling! How can consumers decide which contract or network to pick?

Tesco have also now already withdrawn their 15p charge and increased it to 25p.

Ive done some research on this;

Vodafone - customers who already have inclusive 08 calls will continue having this benefit (according to 3 different vodafone advisors ive spoken to).

Virgin  - same response as vodafone which is good news!

Tmobile/EE - Customer services have again advised that customers will retain their free 08 calls if its already included in the current tariff

I guess we will have to make some test calls and check the billing on 1st July and maybe post our findings on this forum.

Agreed, you won't know for sure till your billed to be honest, but it's promising what you've found thus far, thanks!
