Has anyone had issues with John Lewis or Plusnet terminating their landline due to 0870 calls?

Ive had a customer who only went over by 15 mins and his line got closed down!

The simple answer to this is, yes. I personally know of 3 lines which have been suspended pending termination.

Hmmm interesting. In the feedback received so far, there is no negotiation in the matter. They basically tell you to pack your bags and leave.

Yes, that's what I understand the situation to be. I'm not sure whether they are holding people to contract and charging early termination fees. Do you have any idea on this?

Quite a few of my customers have been told that they do not have to pay anything and they can move elsewhere.

I suppose these people were still in their minimum contract?

If I recall correctly at least the John Lewis Broadband terms state that they can require you to pay early termination fees and a cease fee.

I not aware of that. One of Plusnet customers had a letter demanding payment for Term fees but when she called to double check, they told her to ignore it. The term fees only apply if the customers cancel apparently. If the phone company terminate the contract, then there is nothing further to pay.

Check 16.4 of https://www.johnlewisbroadband.com/terms/ and also 16.4 of https://www.plus.net/help/legal/terms/ (under Plusnet standard terms).
