It’s a story of polar opposites this week.  Down and dirty value deals at the bottom end, and the flash and pricey Nokia N96 at the other side of the spectrum.

'3' and T-Mobile are leading the mood to tap into cost-conscious customers, but all the networks are trying to appeal to people’s money-saving instincts.

'3' claims to be the best value operator for £15, and is heavily promoting its deals in newspapers and billboards. T-Mobile is heavily promoting its £15-a-month sim only deal, £10 a-month mobile broadband, cheap contract offers with unlimited texts and has left some money in the advertising kitty to reach the top end consumers with a promotion for the Nokia N96.  Orange is dipping into the budget market with a £15 a-month sim-only deal – 200 minutes and unlimited texts.
