I believe it is unusual for 3 to give anything away for free, but they appear to be copying the other networks right now.    Shocked

Go to http://threestore.three.co.uk/payg/SimOnly.aspx to get yours.    Smiley

I partially agree with you Nadz and HiPD, but actually '3' have been offering free SIM's for as long as I can remember!

It has really been funny watchìng A1ia5 asking about this on the 'no longer nifty forum', and even a moderator like webKami giving him wrong answers!

The '3' store on their website have been selling a SIM for £9.99, with £10 credit included, for at least the last year, and you can also get a free SIM, for a £10 top up, in a '3' store also.

The only thing that is new in this offer, is that the current one does not require any compulsory top up.  (Ideal if you have a number to port in, for 3's free £10 credit!)

You are correct in what you say mm, but I should like to set the record straight in one respect.        Shocked

I sent a text to A1ia5 at the time of his post, but he was too rude or stubborn at that time to respond to my offer to help him with his quest.        Wink

The other thing which members might like to know is the URL of the posts to which you referred, which is:-  http://www.telecomforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=3805

HiPD - your a star !

T&C's interesting :

"Sim Only - Terms & Conditions

Offer available until 30th November 2008 and limited to 2 Sims per customer. Texts charged at your normal network rate. Sim is for use in either a 3 handset or an unlocked 3G handset. Stretch bundles last 30 days. £10 credit applies to new PAYG customers only and will be applied to account 7 days after the customer’s number has successfully been transferred to 3. Inclusive calls from the UK to standard rate landlines beginning 01, 02, 03 and UK mobiles and texts sent in the UK to standard UK mobiles. Maximum charge for NTS numbers (beginning 08) will be 15p connection and 15p per minute. Terms apply. Delivery within 30 days. See three.co.uk"

Just wondering how they (or their systems) define a customer, so they can enforce the 2 SIMs limit ?  And if their systems have any kind of memory from free SIMs sent previously ?

Cheers - great find !

Gee MH you have a good memory - you may well be right about me !

The request free three sims via 83030 short code actually worked quite well and was a good way to use up bits of credit on PAYG SIMs as it only cost 1 standard SMS to send and as far as i can tell it is not a subscription service - another good reason to send from PAYG, just in case you start getting stung with reverse billed SMSs !

Thanks for your good humoured way in which you have dealt with our posts A1ia5.        Smiley

I have edited your post, to remove its nested quotes.  I strongly encourage members not to post in that way, as it makes posts harder to read and follow, for both members and guests alike.        Wink

LOL I find my dealings with yourself extremely memorable !        Grin

Thanks for your comments about reverse charges SMS and using up pay & go balances.
I hope that we shall soon have some other helpful alternatives to offer.         Wink Smiley
