Have just discovered this new callthrough, www.callsdiscount.com/uk which has some very good rates to certain destinations - best in the market for some  . Not sure of reliability and how good the call quality is, but perhaps worth trying for the good value destinations. i just need to know that do we get charged for 0843 numbers by mobile if so how much it will charge me

Thanks for raising that point, Mdsaleem123. The access numbers given on this site use different number ranges from most other cheap call providers at present.

Those cheap rates I posted are what you would pay if you call these access numbers from a standard BT line: UK mobile operators will charge you more than these advertised rates.

How much you are charged will depend on your particular provider:

In the case of O2, according to their website, they will charge you 20p a minute for calls to 0843, 0844 and 0872 numbers. 0871 numbers are charged at the higher rate of 35p a minute.

Orange can charge ' up to 54p ' a minute  for calls to 0844 numbers. Their website does not specify costs to 0843 nor to 0872 numbers.

 Vodafone charge 35p a minute to call the 0844 and 0871 number ranges, but again do not give any information about charges to 0872 or 0843.

T-Mobile's charges seem to depend on which particular price plan you are on, and at what time of the day you make your call. Some off-peak charges can be 5p a minute to certain 08 numbers, but again their website is unhelpful in regard to charges to 0843 and 0872 numbers.

Three, on the other hand, seem to charge a standard 15p connection fee plus 15p a minute thereafter to NTS 08 numbers.

In short, best avoid calling these access numbers from a mobile, but if you need to, you would be advised to call your operator's customer services first to establish their charges.

As Graham said in his OP, there are some very interesting possibilities on this service if one can call 0843 numbers.       

The problem is, as mdsaleem123's post hinted, it is neither easy nor cheap to call such numbers from a mobile ( even if the networks have opened such number ranges in the first place ! )       

What I have been looking for is some subscription service, which can be called from a mobile, which will allow 0843 calls AND charge for them at something like BT rates.       

If anyone know of such a service, please will they kindly let me know.

Hi,

Has anybody has been using this service? I have been using this service for quiet a while now. The access number given on the website 02033474499 to call canada from my inclusive minutes. But since today morning im getting a msg as check our website, i checked their website they introduced a new local access number its 01613113111 but its not working every time i dial i get a msg as number error. Any one was using the numbers.

Hi Ruz, At least the number is working now (but could not get connected to destination in India.)
