ITProPortal"Virgin Mobile has launched a new mobile offer, dubbed Addict, that offers free texts and unlimited internet access to pay as you go users who top up £20 per month.
Virgin Addict, as the plan happens to be called, will be targeting PAYG users who make the bulk of Virgin Mobile's customers and will be of particular interest to those allergic to 24-month contracts.
Those who can't stomp £20 per per month for the unlimited Addict tariff can still pay either £15 per month and receive 600 free texts or £10 to get 300 free SMS. Customers will be charged 20p for calls to their voicemail, UK landlines and mobile networks. Extra texts will cost 10p each while unlimited web access for a day will cost 30p.
Unsurprisingly, the unlimited web access comes with a 1GB per month fair use policy (that's 25MB per day according to Virgin) while the unlimited text offer has a top ceiling of 3000 texts. A quick look at Virgin Mobile's own tariff grid showed us how poor the company's monthly mobile contracts are especially if you are an avid texter and have a mobile phone.
Unlimited Internet comes in at £9 per month and Virgin's £25 text online tariffs comes with a mere 150 minutes and 750 texts. At £34 per month, you are better by £4 if you went PAYG. You wouldn't be tied in a long contract but you wouldn't get a brand new phone either".
