O2 are busy sending out SMS to their Pay & Go customers advising them of price changes that are coming in from the 1st July.

The news is a very mixed bag of good and bad.

The main headlines are:-

1).  Connection Charge (the minimum cost of making a call)

>  Calling other O2 UK mobiles and standard UK landlines will cost a minimum of 20p until you've made 3 minutes of calls in a day.
>  Calling other O2 UK mobiles and standard UK Landlines will cost a minimum of 5p for the rest of the day after you've made 3 minutes of calls that day.
>  Calling other UK mobile networks and Non Geographic Numbers* (such as numbers starting 0845, 0870 etc) will cost a minimum of 20p at all times.
>  Calling international numbers will cost a minimum of 20p.
>  If you're on Your Country or have an international bolt on, the minimum cost of calling international numbers will be 20p or 1 minute, whichever is cheapest.  For example (when using International Caller Bolt On)

2).  Rates For Using Your Phone Abroad In The EU

>  The cost of sending a text from another EU country** back to the UK will be cut from 49p to 25p.
>  The cost of browsing the mobile internet on your mobile when abroad in another EU country** will be cut from £15 per meg to £3 per meg.

3).  Calling Directory Enquiries

>  Calling 118 402, our dedicated Directory Enquiries number exclusively for O2 customers, will continue to cost 60p per minute.
>  Calling all other UK Directory Enquiries numbers starting 118 will cost £1 per minute.
>  Calling International Directory Enquiries numbers will cost £2 per minute.

See:-  O2 for full details.

The prices for calling non geographic numbers are shown separately here, and appear to be unchanged.

There is one bit of very bad news ( typical Telefonica meanness ? ) in that the free 1 MB internet allowance for online Pay & Go's, which previously was enjoyed each month one topped up by £10, is abolished.        Huh Huh Huh

( Surprisingly they chickened out of mentioning that on the website announcement, but you are advised of this when you call the free information line on 2202 ).
